Bits and bobs and books

Exciting things! My book for Badger Learning’s ‘Papercuts’, The Sickness, is out now. http://www.badgerlearning.co.uk/ecommerce/secondary-resources/sen/papercuts/9781788372206-the-sickness.aspx This is my ‘Misty prose’ story, where plague returns to the land and dreadful things happen to a perfectly nice girl who doesn’t deserve it at all!

Out next month is Doctor Who: The Missy Chronicles, featuring my story, ‘Girl Power!’, in which Missy discovers feminism, sort of. It was enormous fun to write, I shall keep my fingers crossed it may be slightly fun to read, too. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Doctor-Who-Chronicles-Cavan-Scott/dp/1785943235

Also recently announced was the collection The Day She Saved the Doctor. Four stories highlighting the role of one of the Doctor’s female companions, published on International Women’s Day. I’m still pinching myself that I was asked to contribute alongside such amazing names as Jenny Colgan, Susan Calman and Dorothy Koomson. My story sees Sarah Jane Smith visit Ancient Rome (one of my favourite companions in one of my favourite settings, hurrah!) https://www.penguin.co.uk/puffin/books/304228/doctor-who-the-day-she-saved-the-doctor/

Last week I made a rare trip abroad – to the Moat Studios in London, where recording was taking place of my script that forms part of Bernice Summerfield’s 20th birthday celebrations. It was simply amazing to see old friends again, not that any of us could quite comprehend that it’s been twenty years since Benny’s first Big Finish (which was Big Finish’s first play – which was my first professional credit! Gosh). Benny’s creator, the wonderful Paul Cornell, was there too, and has written about it here: https://www.paulcornell.com/2018/01/bernice-visit-and-hammer-podcast-approaching/ More details as and when.
